Patient and Public Participation is a key part of the core business of Oldham Cares. Understanding the views of the people we serve is central to understanding what services are needed, how they should be delivered and how they are performing. Access to patient insight is vital to us being effective as it underpins the whole commissioning and delivery process.
Patients and the wider public have unique perspectives – wholly different to that of clinicians or managers – which comes from your experience as people living through good health, ill health and being on the receiving end of services. Therefore your views, experiences and opinions are greatly valued by Oldham Cares. Evidence shows services designed and implemented with patient input deliver better outcomes, are more responsive and more cost effective.
People who willingly give their time to share their views with us need to know that they’ve been listened to and that something has happened as a result. We can’t always give everyone what they would want, but we always make sure they know where their input went and how it was used.

Over to you…
It’s not just about the Council and the NHS organising and delivering services better, it’s about the role we all have to play in looking after ourselves and those around us:
- #ourbit Working together to ensure you receive the health and social care you need, when and where you need it
- #yourbit Leading a healthy and active lifestyle, looking after each other and using the right services responsibly
- #result Living healthier for longer with the right support when you need it
Oldham Cares will only succeed with the active participation of local people caring for themselves and those around them.
Gathering the views of local residents, patients and service users, carers and our local workforce is vital to allow this new way of working to succeed and to ensure our services are protected and sustainable for the future.
